Spade

ONE SPARK DUNIT

aka Spade ♠️

AQHA Registered and eligible for National Foundation Quarter Horse Foundation

This is the kind of horse that makes my job so so fun but, also so hard. Seeing this boy move on will be hard on the heart. Spade has proven to be such a special horse with a heart of gold. He is bred to be a rockstar and I think he surpasses that title. He is the quietest horse around and at such a young age takes everything in stride. He stands a proportionate 14.2hh and is the perfect size for child or adult. He was started later in life than we like but, it worked out for him because he has the absolute best demeanor. He is a puppy dog, in your pocket kind of horse. I have had Spade over a month now to truly get to know him as well as expand his skills and knowledge. THIS HORSE IS COOL. While here he has, trail rode, beach rode, worked cattle, roped cattle, gave kid's rides, and had a lot of work on body control and proper arena riding. He has 3 very comfortable and easy to handle gaits, they are balanced and he will hold his speed and impulsion in all three on a loose floppy rein. Spade spent some rides with Levi getting a start on cattle and shows great promise in it. He is by no means finished on cattle but, has a good start and could easily go to some smaller events and do well. Spade also learned all about a rope and has zero issues with it. He will hold a soggy cow, drag one, and happily track all day. He has not been out of a box which means zero issues there. He is not spooky at all and will trail ride alone or in a group and happily leads or follows. He is used to our dogs, chickens and barn cats and doesn't mind any of them. He has been ridden by and around heavy equipment and did fine. Spade ties, crossties, and doesn't mind spray (it is too cold to bathe but, I don't think he would mind). If left tied alone he will paw for a few minutes before standing quietly. He did great with the kids, is respectful of fence and turns out with others well. He stalls at night here but, is fine outside. He doesn't have any stall habits and is fine alone when the others get turned out. He is a very easy going guy. I would love to see him in a performance style home but, the truth is, I think he would be just as happy as a trail horse as well. He is pretty happy go lucky. Spade came utd on some shots and  I just took him to Annabessacook Vet for a full check and a Coggins and rabies. While there he also had a dental float. He does have an overbite which does not affect him. The only maintenance is routine dental. He is a super easy keeper and is currently barefoot. If traveling on really rocky areas I would recommend shoes but, hasn't had any issues yet with where we ride. He loads and unloads great, travels great and does wonderful off property. He handled the beach ride with ease and was happy to explore the waves and water. If this was not what I chose for a job this horse wouldn't be leaving but, I already have a personal horse and Spade deserves someone of his own. I would be happy to chat more about him, share vet records or show you him here at the farm. Feel free to reach out!! Check out his video below!
